Previously (Untranscribed Session)#
No transcript exists for the session between 2026.07.14 and this one. The GM’s opening recap is the only surviving record of it, and is reproduced here as closely as possible rather than in the transcript itself:
- The party bought their own tent and campsite on the public campgrounds near the Ragged Flagon, funded by Duke Tristan Blackwood’s money—now their base of operations.
- The party learned that one of the Oathkeeper knights they met on the road into Everdale (see Oathkeepers) is privately fed up with the order’s inability to act against a new blight called the Wither—the same phenomenon the party has been calling “the hollowing.” This is the first time the blight has been given a proper name in play.
- The party went on what the GM called “a bit of a ghost hunt” and saved Jevon a second time from knights employed by House Godrin—a distinct incident from his original rescue at the Stone Sanctum in 2026.05.12. No rolls, tactics, or casualty details survive.
- Following that fight, the party learned House Godrin wants Jevon and his sending stone, but—more importantly—wants to know who gave the stone to him in the first place. This points at a third party (very plausibly Maralynn) rather than Jevon himself being Godrin’s real target.
- Rory bet against the party again in this encounter and lost again.

Summary#
The session opened atop the Crown Gauntlet’s bell platform in celebration, then followed the party down through the course to the Ragged Flagon, where Rory conceded another lost bet with free mead and vows to stop betting against “the Crushing Crusaders.” Aldric used the distraction to steal an entire mead barrel from Rory outright (Sleight of Hand 19, undetected). Renny Blackwood—Duke Blackwood’s nephew and manservant, sweaty and scrawny under the weight of a large leather pouch—arrived with the party’s reward for winning the Gauntlet and an invitation to visit the Duke’s tent that evening “to discuss business” (not yet acted on). The pouch held roughly 1,500 gold (about 400 gp per person) plus individualized magic items: Aldric received a +1 Greatsword bearing House Blackwood’s crest; Azrith received Goggles of Night (120 ft. darkvision, fully concealing the wearer’s eyes); Odine Dunmere received a Shadowfell Shard, which she fused onto her existing crystal pendant; Cassian received the Eyes of Charming (three daily charges of Charm Person without spending a spell slot). Separately, the party’s earlier 50 gp Gauntlet wager paid out at 3× (150 gp, added to party funds). Source: Transcript.
That night, Odine Dunmere used the sending stone to check on Jevon, who is laying low in the woods nearby and asked for coin to sustain himself. She promised support and, the next morning, Azrith found a hollowed-out tree stump roughly fifty paces southeast of their tent (Survival 21) to use as a dead drop. Odine left 50 gold and a stolen chalice of mead there and relayed the location to Jevon, who was deeply grateful and warned her that “they are powerful people.” During the party’s long rest, each character’s private dream/thoughts touched on the road ahead: Odine felt far from home but grounded by her friends; Cassian weighed personal glory against the possibility that freeing Jevon might destabilize the noble houses’ long-abusive grip on power (“Cassian will see where the wind takes him”); Azrith’s thoughts circled around helping the party reach its goals alongside an unspecified personal goal of his own; Aldric quietly wondered what he’ll do—and whether the party will stay together—once the tourney ends. Source: Transcript.
The next morning brought shopping and a major lore correction. At Marea Voss’s apothecary, Odine bought two Potions of Greater Healing (280 gp) and Cassian haggled a Potion of Hill Giant Strength down to 280 gp (Persuasion 23); a Potion of Speed was priced out of reach at 2,000–3,000 gp. At Gruvelda Duskbelt’s smithy—where Cassian noticed her working black plate armor for unnamed paying clients, which she brushed off as simple mercenary neutrality (“I armor all of the knights in this realm… I like the work and they like my armor”)—Aldric commissioned upgraded blue-dyed scale/plate armor (200 gp, half paid, 8 hours to complete) and Azrith commissioned a new +1 scimitar built from scratch (400 gp, 8–10 hours). Asked about House Godrin and Jevon, Gruvelda quietly revealed a concrete lead: House Godrin keeps detailed ledgers of all their activity at an outpost on the outskirts of the fair—if the party can find it, they may learn why Godrin wants Jevon. Source: Transcript.
At the King’s Fair leaderboard, Holt confirmed the party (“Cassian’s Crushing Crusaders”) has advanced past the Proving Grounds into The Menagerie—a gladiatorial beast-arena tier judged on spectacle, daring, and mastery rather than simple kills, drawing thousands of spectators. Their bout is scheduled for tomorrow at sundown (5 PM), red tent, against an opponent bracketed near House Wulfhelm (whose champion, Ser Calder Ross “the Doomfist,” is confirmed to be well above this bracket’s weight and won’t be faced directly). Three unarmored House Oswall dignitaries were seen registering for the same tier—an unusually large showing for the perennially dismissed house. Source: Transcript.
Important correction, made explicitly by the GM mid-session: the white-armored house that has been hunting Jevon throughout this arc has been House Godrin all along—the party (and the transcript) had been mistakenly calling them “House Oswall.” House Oswall is the separate, unarmored, illegitimate religious house that only appears at the tournament, unconnected to the Jevon plot. All earlier session notes and wiki pages have been reconciled to this correction. Source: Transcript.
The session ended with the plan for next time: investigate House Godrin’s outpost (a stealth mission—Aldric’s new heavy armor was flagged as a problem for that), finally meet with Duke Blackwood in his tent, and finish preparations before tomorrow’s Menagerie bout.
Open Threads#
- Menagerie bout: tomorrow, 5 PM, red tent, opponent unknown beyond a loose Wulfhelm bracket adjacency.
- Meeting with Duke Blackwood: invitation delivered via Renny, not yet fulfilled—unclear what business he wants to discuss.
- House Godrin’s outpost and ledgers: a concrete lead from Gruvelda Duskbelt, not yet investigated. Needs a stealth plan.
- House Godrin’s true target: reaffirmed that they want to know who gave Jevon his sending stone—likely Maralynn, unconfirmed.
- Gruvelda’s neutrality: ambiguous whether she’s also arming House Godrin directly.
- Armor/weapon commissions (Aldric’s armor, Azrith’s scimitar) are in progress, not yet collected.
- Whether Jevon has retrieved the cache (gold + mead) is unconfirmed.
- House Oswall’s unusually large entry count this year is unexplained.
- Azrith’s own unspecified personal goal, raised in his dream, is an open character thread.
