Maralynn#

Summary#

Maralynn is a witch from the Thornwood Vale who is spoken of with awe by those who have encountered her. She possesses what Jevon described as “unfathomable power.” She found Jevon on the brink of death, malnourished and without strength, recognized something in him, taught him to survive, and then departed. She gave him his magical box before she left. Source: 2026.05.12.

Current Status#

Unknown. Jevon has not seen her in years. She is from the Thornwood Vale but was encountered at some point in Everdale. Her current whereabouts are unknown. Source: 2026.05.12.

Notes#

• Jevon was instructed to call her “Maralynn” and describes her as a “strange witch.”
• She is from the Thornwood Vale, giving her a connection to the world Odine Dunmere is from and the pestilence Odine is trying to stop.
• Cassian speculated that Maralynn may be the true prize the noble houses are chasing when they compete over the deed to the Thornwood Vale in the King's Tourney—a hidden reason behind the tournament’s political stakes.
• House Godrin interrogated Jevon specifically about his magic and his teacher, suggesting they are actively searching for her.
• Per Jevon (2026.06.23), she “returned to her people in the Vale” (Thornwood Vale), the same region where House Godrin works with a dwarven clan to extract mana crystals. Jevon said as early as 2026.05.12 that Godrin “tries so hard to maintain control of the Vale so that they can find her.”
• As of the untranscribed session before 2026.08.11, House Godrin’s interest in Jevon’s sending stone is now framed as secondary to wanting to know who gave it to him—strongly suggestive that Maralynn, not Jevon, is Godrin’s real target.
• She gave Jevon his magical box, which Odine Dunmere identified as ancient elven craftsmanship—a relic, not a trinket. Source: 2026.05.12.
• Confirmed alive and located by House Godrin: a letter recovered from White Feather Tor plus Cassian’s overheard fragment of Percival Godrin’s voice both indicate Godrin no longer believes her to be a dead legend—“they’re not chasing a ghost. She’s alive. We’ve already confirmed it.” Duke Tristan Blackwood separately knows her only through folklore, as an archmage named Marlin who once served King Aldrich the Wise, presumed dead since “the ancient war.” To protect her real location, Odine Dunmere fed Blackwood a decoy name and location instead.
