House Corwyn#

Summary#

House Corwyn is one of the three dominant noble houses at the King's Tourney and in the broader Crownlands. The GM’s stated faction theme: Truth Seekers—their interest in power runs through information, scholarship, and the arcane arts rather than pure military might or wealth. Their retainers are identified by silver armor. Source: 2026.06.11, GM faction notes.

Notes#

• One of the “big three” alongside House Godrin (Mage Power) and House Wulfhelm (Militant Peace).
• House Blackwood and Duke Tristan Blackwood are vassals of House Corwyn, which places them directly in Corwyn’s sphere of influence at the tournament.
• Their champion and broader tournament strategy are not yet known to the party.
• Their true motive, per Blackwood: House Corwyn believes the Thornwood Vale conceals a secret that could unite the lesser noble houses to rise up against Godrin and Wulfhelm. They’ve sought this secret for nearly a century but cannot act on it without holding the Vale’s title outright—which Wulfhelm currently holds. Per Blackwood, Corwyn’s self-image is that they’re clever enough to understand everyone else’s game. Source: 2026.08.18.
• Duke Tristan Blackwood, their vassal, is a wildcard rather than a loyal company man: he says he’d relish seeing all three great houses (including his own liege, Corwyn) lose the tournament this year—something unprecedented in its hundred-year history. Source: 2026.08.18.
• A hedge mage from House Corwyn once spent three days in Havenport studying the black veil in the Westermere Manor undercroft, “threw every clever trick he knew against the thing,” and failed to affect it, per Mauve Marigold. When this happened, and why Corwyn sent him, is unknown. Source: 2026.10.06.
