Summary#
House Fortescue is Cassian’s family house, of celestial or semi-divine bloodline—descended from a lineage cut off from the divine but still carrying celestial heritage. Confirmed as a vassal of House Wulfhelm for roughly 60 years (established ~40 years after King Aldrich’s reign ended, around a century ago). Source: 2026.06.11, 2026.08.18.
Notes#
- Duke Tristan Blackwood, despite “running in a lot of circles,” has never once heard House Wulfhelm acknowledge or claim House Fortescue as a vassal—and finds this odd enough to remark on directly. Source: 2026.08.18.
- Cassian deflected the question rather than explain: “There are few who remember us fondly… that is part of the reason I am here.” This implies some falling-out, disgrace, or forgotten history attached to the house that Cassian has not yet revealed to the party or the wiki. Source: 2026.08.18.
- Cassian’s family signet ring (a falling star meeting its own tail, ouroboros-like) marks the house as old-blooded nobility. See Cassian.
- Blackwood did not consider the Fortescue name “risky” to associate with, despite the discrepancy.
- The old Oathkeeper Ian in Havenport recognized the name at once and called Cassian “Lord Fortescue’s son”: “people tend to have short memories, don’t they.” Source: 2026.09.22.
Relationships#
- Cassian: Scion of the house.
- House Wulfhelm: Nominal liege house—though Wulfhelm apparently does not acknowledge the vassalage publicly.
- Duke Tristan Blackwood: Suspicious of the unacknowledged vassalage; pressed Cassian on it directly.
