House Godrin#

Summary#
House Godrin is one of the three most powerful noble houses in the Crownlands. The GM’s stated faction theme: Mage Power—known for mana crystals, artifacts, and magical wealth. Its current patron is Golstang Godrin. The other two dominant houses are House Wulfhelm (Militant Peace) and House Corwyn (Truth Seekers). Source: 2026.05.05, 2026.06.11, GM faction notes.
Notes#
- Their knights or retainers at the King's Tourney wore matte white armor and displayed a white banner.
- Cassian recognized them and avoided drawing their attention.
- They believe in the right to rule and are one of the major houses that frequently win the King’s Tourney.
- Cassian knows they have a ruthless drive that common folk may not fully see.
- Two of their foot soldiers abducted Jevon from the King's Tourney and interrogated him in the Stone Sanctum graveyard about his magic and his teacher, a witch named Maralynn. Both soldiers are now dead—one killed by the possessing ghost, the other destroyed by the party in combat. Source: 2026.05.12.
- Cassian speculated that House Godrin’s real interest in controlling the Thornwood Vale is to locate Maralynn, who is from the Vale and wields extraordinary power. Source: 2026.05.12.
- Their tournament dominance is explained mechanically: they compete every year specifically to harvest mana crystals, working closely with a dwarven clan in the Vale—the arcane fuel source powering their armada of weapons, armor, and artifacts and reinforcing their claim to the throne. The tourney’s grand prize (King’s Cup + a deed to the Vale) is why they and House Wulfhelm fight hardest for it every year. Source: 2026.06.23.
- In an untranscribed session before 2026.08.11, House Godrin knights attacked the party again in a bid to recapture Jevon; the party drove them off. It was learned Godrin wants Jevon’s sending stone but, more importantly, wants to know who gave it to him—implying their real target is a third party, plausibly Maralynn.
- Naming note: for much of session 2026.08.11 the party mistakenly referred to this house as “House Oswall” before the GM corrected it mid-session. House Godrin is the white-armored house pursuing Jevon; House Oswall is the unrelated, unarmored religious house. All wiki pages use the corrected names.
- Armor color note: on 2026.08.18, the table corrected a running mix-up at the table: House Godrin wears white armor and House Wulfhelm wears black—confirmed as the GM’s actual intent. Several earlier session logs had described Jevon’s Godrin abductors as “black-armored” in error; these have been corrected to white to match.
- Keeps meticulous ledgers of their activity at an outpost on the outskirts of the King’s Fair, per Gruvelda Duskbelt—an unconfirmed but concrete lead for learning why they want Jevon. Source: 2026.08.11.
- Reportedly a paying client of Gruvelda Duskbelt’s smithy (black plate armor commissions observed); she neither confirms nor denies this, framing herself as a neutral mercenary. Source: 2026.08.11.
- Duke Tristan Blackwood describes them as unusually active lately—“asking a lot of questions,” “sticking their noses in shady corners”—and reports rumors they’ve been kidnapping children. As a young competitor himself, Blackwood personally once witnessed House Godrin abducting hedge mages, and wonders what “frightened one of the most powerful arcane families in the Crownlands badly enough to resort to kidnapping.” Source: 2026.08.18.
- Per Blackwood, Godrin’s self-image: they believe this year’s King’s Tourney already belongs to them. Alongside House Wulfhelm, they have traded control of the Thornwood Vale between them for nearly a decade via the tournament. Source: 2026.08.18.
- Blackwood gave the party a written intelligence note listing names and locations tied to Godrin’s camp activity, pointing to the Messenger Tent at White Feather Tor—not yet investigated. Source: 2026.08.18.
- The Godrin family camp is White Feather Tor, in the Eastern Tourney Grounds: ~30 people total, 6–8 knights in matte-white armor, 12–15 men-at-arms in white-and-grey livery, plus servants, messengers, grooms, and arcane attendants. Security tightens considerably after dark along the perimeter.
- Named family members (per Blackwood’s note): Golstang Godrin (patron, central pavilion, heavily guarded), Percival Godrin (moves between the pavilion, Everdale, and the tourney grounds), Emberlee Godrin (stays in camp, rarely alone), Valerie Godrin (regularly leaves camp—the most accessible family member outside it), Ronan Godrin (frequently at the training grounds).
- Champion identified: Sir Thorin Cassavar, “the Crow”—a nearly 9–10-foot-tall warrior in arcane relic armor and helm, wielding an enchanted axe, spotted patrolling White Feather Tor. Source: 2026.08.25.
- On 2026.08.25, the party infiltrated White Feather Tor and confirmed via an intercepted letter and overheard conversation (Percival Godrin’s voice) that House Godrin has located Maralynn and knows she is alive, not the dead legend they’d assumed. The party fed Duke Tristan Blackwood a decoy lead to protect her real location.
- Spell draught: an Oathkeeper acolyte at the Gleaming Keep said the teleportation circles run on spell draught, a liquid transmuted from the mana crystals mined in the Thornwood Vale that Godrin harvests whenever it holds the deed. House Godrin was “influential in the discovery” of spell draught, which took nearly 60 years to work out. Source: 2026.09.22.
