House Oswall#

Summary#

House Oswall is a nomadic religious group that arrives at the King's Tourney each year to claim legitimacy to the Crownlands throne. The GM’s stated faction theme: Illegitimate. They have never been formally deeded land by King Aldrich and are considered an illegitimate house by the established nobility. They are generally regarded as a joke among the noble houses and are typically humiliated at the tournament before departing. Source: 2026.06.11, GM faction notes.

Notes#

• Identified by green, gold, and purple robes; priests, nuns, floats, banners, and trumpets accompany their arrival parade.

• Common folk show genuine interest in their procession; established nobles are dismissive.

• Aldric recalled their history with an investigation roll of 12: never deeded land, claims throne legitimacy, comes every year, typically humiliated.

• Cassian confirmed from noble knowledge: they are considered a standing joke among legitimate houses.

• Their religious nature and nomadic lifestyle suggest a distinct theological or prophetic basis for their throne claim, though details are not yet established.

• Naming note: for much of session 2026.08.11 the party mistakenly used “House Oswall” to refer to the white-armored knights pursuing Jevon—that house is actually House Godrin. House Oswall itself is unarmored, unrelated to the Jevon plot, and had no combat presence in that confusion.

• Fielded three unarmored dignitaries registering for The Menagerie tournament tier on 2026.08.11—an unusually large showing, more entries than any prior year, though still treated as underdogs/a laughing stock by onlookers given their lack of military background.

Relationships#

• King's Tourney: Attend annually to press their claim; never win.
• Aldric: Has passing historical knowledge of the group.
• Cassian: Offered their registering dignitaries a backhanded blessing—“nothing legitimizes a house faster than surviving in front of witnesses.”
