Active. In the undercroft of Westermere Manor, Azrith took a running jump into the Curtain, a floating sphere of black mist that is a passage to “the realm of death.” It shrank and vanished with him inside. Just before the party teleported to Havenport, he had started to ask “shouldn’t we—” and was cut off; the question is unanswered. Source: 2026.09.22.

Update 2026.09.29: Azrith returned through the Curtain on 2026.09.29. In the ethereal plane he killed a vengeful ghost and met Eleanor Gray, who revealed she is Aldric’s mother. She named him after King Aldrich, called him “Aldrick of Havenport,” and told him he was never a mistake. She was enthralled by the spirit behind the black veil and recently escaped. She won’t speak its name. The quest remains active: the Curtain is still a dangerous gate, the spirit behind the veil commands the undead, and the truth about House Westermere’s fall lies beyond the veil.

Known Details#

  • Per Samantha Westermere, Azrith may come back “if he survives… when the curtain reopens.” That could be a day or a week, and the timing is unpredictable. The Curtain tends to close when it is used.
  • Both the living and the dead pass through the Curtain, “some of them are vile.” Traffic has grown as more people have died in recent years.
  • Samantha has seen a group go through together.
  • Azrith’s player was absent this session, and the GM ran him.

Next Steps#

  • Return to the undercroft once the Curtain reopens and decide whether to go through together.
  • Learn more about the Curtain and the black veil beside it. Odine believes she can figure out the veil.
